How is the RZ050-DS controller powered? Does it take batteries?

The RZ050-DS controller is powered strictly by 5V DC USB-C. It contains no internal battery compartment and requires continuous connection using the included 1-meter USB to USB-C cable plugged into any standard 5V USB wall adapter or USB power outlet. Only the wireless RZ001 door sensor runs on batteries (2x AAA).

Can the RZ050-DS turn my air conditioner ON automatically?

No. The RZ050-DS is strictly an OFF-only energy management device. It learns only the discrete “Power OFF” IR command from your AC remote. It cannot turn ON or restart your AC under any circumstances and does not touch your AC’s internal wiring or relays. Occupants must always manually power on the AC using their remote control.

How does the included RZ001 door sensor communicate with the controller?

The RZ001 door sensor communicates with the RZ050-DS controller via wireless 433MHz RF with an effective transmission range of up to 30 meters in open spaces. When a door or window is opened, the magnetic contact separates. What are the time delay settings, and are they independent?

Yes, the motion vacancy delay and door sensor delay are completely independent: The RZ050-DS controller vacancy delay can be configured to 15min, 30min, 1h (default), or 2h via the onboard TIME button. The RZ001 door sensor delay can be configured to 5 seconds, 1 minute (default), 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 30 minutes using the included pin tool on the sensor’s pinhole button.

When should I choose the 1-Sensor Kit instead of the 2-Sensor Kit?

The 1-Sensor Kit is engineered specifically for rooms with a single exterior access point—such as a hotel guest room with only an entry door and non-opening windows, an enclosed office, or a bedroom with a single balcony door. If your space features both an entry door and an operable window, or dual sliding patio doors, choose the 2-Sensor Kit (Post ID 18759) to ensure full perimeter monitoring.

How does Night Mode behave on the RZ050-DS?

Night Mode uses an ambient light sensor calibrated to 1 Lux: When ambient light is 1 Lux or greater (daytime/lights on), the controller actively shuts off the AC if vacancy is detected. When ambient light drops below 1 Lux (nighttime/sleep), the controller enters standby mode and will not turn off the AC due to lack of movement. However, the door sensor protection remains fully armed—if an opening is left ajar at night past the delay, the AC will shut off.

What are the physical alignment rules for mounting the door sensor?

The RZ001 sensor consists of a main sensor unit (mounted on the door frame) and a magnet (mounted on the door sash).
