FAQ
Will the RZ050 work with my AC unit?
The RZ050 is compatible with split AC units operated by infrared remotes with discrete commands. For vacancy shutoff only, a discrete OFF command is required. For dual turn-ON and turn-OFF control, the remote must have separate, discrete codes for ON and OFF. Remotes with a single toggle button for both power ON and OFF are not supported.
How do I install the RZ050 Air Conditioner Occupancy Sensor?
Installation is simple and requires no wiring. You can either stick the device to the wall using the included adhesive or mount it with screws. Detailed instructions are provided in the user manual.
How long does the battery last?
The RZ050 is designed for long battery life, typically lasting at least one year with normal use.
What is Night Mode?
Night Mode prevents the AC from turning off while you sleep. When ambient brightness is below 1Lux, the controller suppresses the automatic OFF command so sleeping occupants are not interrupted. Motion detection remains active and can still turn the AC ON upon room entry if the ON command has been learned.
Can I use the RZ050 to turn my AC ON?
Yes. In addition to the required OFF command, the RZ050 can learn an optional ON command (or startup temperature) from your AC remote. Upon the first motion detected when entering an unoccupied room, the RZ050 automatically transmits the learned ON signal to your AC. Note: To configure automatic turn-ON, the ON command must be learned immediately following the OFF command setup by holding the Mode button for 10 seconds. Re-learning an OFF command clears any previously stored ON command.
Why won’t the AC turn back on automatically after I turn it off with my remote?
The RZ050 operates open-loop without telemetry feedback from the AC. If you manually turn off the AC with your remote while staying in the room, the RZ050 still assumes the room is occupied and the AC is running. In this state, motion only resets the vacancy countdown. To restore automatic turn-ON, the space must remain vacant until the time delay expires and the RZ050 transmits its own OFF signal, or you can turn the AC back on manually with the remote.
What is the warranty on the RZ050?
The RZ050 comes with a 1-year limited warranty.

Can I use door and window sensors with the RZ050?
The standard RZ050 is an independent PIR motion controller and does not connect to external door sensors. If you need your AC to automatically shut down when doors or windows are left open, that capability is supported by another model in our series: the RZ050-DS Air Conditioner Controller, which pairs wirelessly with RZ001 magnetic contact sensors.
How does temperature-based control work instead of turning the AC completely off?
The RZ050 can learn specific temperature signals from your AC remote instead of power commands. It learns an active startup temperature (e.g., 21°C) triggered upon room entry, and an energy-saving setback temperature (e.g., 28°C) triggered after the vacancy delay expires.
