What is Dimming

Dimming is the process of adjusting the brightness or intensity of a light source that involves controlling the amount of electrical current supplied to the light source, allowing for changes in the level of illumination. Dimming can be achieved through the use of various devices, such as dimmer switches, dimmer cards, dimmer modules, dimmer packs, and dimmer panels.

A dimmer switch is a control device that allows users to increase or decrease the brightness of a light source. It is typically operated by rotating or sliding the switch to the desired position. Dimmer switches are commonly used in residential, commercial, and theatrical settings to create different lighting effects, enhance visual comfort, and conserve energy.

Dimming technology has evolved to include advanced techniques such as pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming. PWM dimming involves rapidly turning the light source on and off at a high speed, creating the illusion of dimming. This technique provides precise control over the amount of electrical current supplied to the light source, ensuring consistent color temperature and potentially extending the lifespan of the light source.
