Qué es el kilovatio (Kw)
El kilovatio (kW) es una unidad de medida utilizada para cuantificar el consumo de energía eléctrica de los dispositivos de iluminación. Representa 1.000 vatios de potencia. Por ejemplo, si se encienden diez bombillas de 100 W, el consumo total de energía sería de 1 kW. Esto indica que cada bombilla consume 100W de potencia, y cuando se multiplica por el número de bombillas, se calcula el consumo total de energía.
Además, el término "kW" también es sinónimo de "demanda" cuando se comunica con una compañía eléctrica. Se refiere a la cantidad de energía que necesitan los aparatos eléctricos en un momento determinado. Por ejemplo, si se encienden simultáneamente diez bombillas y una secadora de ropa de 3.000 vatios, la demanda o potencia total requerida sería de 4 kW. Esto pone de relieve la importancia de que la compañía eléctrica sea capaz de suministrar electricidad suficiente para satisfacer las necesidades de potencia de los dispositivos conectados.
