Wat is Kilowatt (Kw)
Een Kilowatt (kW) is een meeteenheid die wordt gebruikt om de snelheid te kwantificeren waarmee elektrische energie wordt verbruikt door verlichtingsarmaturen of -apparaten. Het staat voor 1000 watt vermogen. Als er bijvoorbeeld tien gloeilampen van 100W worden ingeschakeld, is het totale energieverbruik 1kW. Dit geeft aan dat elke gloeilamp 100W verbruikt en wanneer dit wordt vermenigvuldigd met het aantal lampen, wordt het totale energieverbruik berekend.
Bovendien is de term "kW" ook synoniem met "vraag" wanneer je communiceert met een nutsbedrijf. Het verwijst naar de hoeveelheid stroom die elektrische apparaten op een bepaald moment nodig hebben. Als er bijvoorbeeld tien gloeilampen en een wasdroger van 3000 watt tegelijkertijd worden ingeschakeld, is de totale vraag of het benodigde vermogen 4 kW. Dit benadrukt hoe belangrijk het is dat het nutsbedrijf voldoende elektriciteit kan leveren om te voldoen aan de stroomvereisten van de aangesloten apparaten.
