Permukaan specular dicirikan oleh kemampuannya memantulkan cahaya dengan cara yang sangat terarah, dengan hamburan atau difusi yang minimal. Permukaan ini biasanya dikaitkan dengan bahan seperti cermin, logam yang dipoles, kaca, plastik, atau permukaan cairan transparan.
