トライライト電球とも呼ばれる3ウェイ電球は、3段階の明るさを提供します。標準的なシングルフィラメント電球が固定された明るさを提供するのとは異なり、3ウェイ電球は、ユーザーが低、中、高レベルの照度を選択することができます。この多様性は、電球内に2つのフィラメントを使用し、それぞれが異なる光量を生成できることで実現します。
