直列回路とは
直列回路は電気回路の一種で、コンポーネントやデバイスが連続的に一列に接続され、電流が流れるための単一の経路を形成している。この構成では、電流は各コンポーネントを順番に通過する。電流は回路全体を通して一定である。これは、各コンポーネントを流れる電流が等しいことを意味する。

直 列 回 路 で は 、電 圧 は 各 構 成 素 の 抵 抗 ま た は イ ン ピ ー ダ ン ス に 基 づ い て 分 割 さ れ る 。回路の総電圧は、各コンポーネントを横切る電圧降下の合計に等しい。1つのコンポーネントが故障したり断線したりすると、電流は1つの経路にしか流れないため、回路全体が遮断される。この結果、直列回路に接続されたすべてのデバイスまたはコンポーネントは、そのうちの1つが故障すると同時に機能しなくなる。
直列回路は照明業界でよく使われ、特にクリスマス・ライトのストリングや景観用照明器具のような照明の配置に使われる。しかし、直列回路には欠点があるため、住宅配線ではあまり使われない。直列回路のトラブルシューティングや修理は、1つの部品の故障が回路全体に影響するため、不便で時間がかかる。さらに、直列回路の各コンポーネントを横切る電圧降下は、回路のさらに下のデバイスの明るさや性能の低下につながる可能性がある。
