자외선이란?
자외선(UV)은 전자기 방사선의 한 형태로서 가시광선 및 엑스레이 전자기 스펙트럼. 자외선은 가시광선보다 파장이 짧고 에너지가 높기 때문에 사람의 눈에는 보이지 않습니다. 자외선은 파장에 따라 세 가지 유형으로 분류됩니다: UVA, UVB, UVC.

UVA는 세 가지 유형 중 파장이 가장 길고 인체에 가장 덜 해롭습니다. 태닝을 유발하며 태닝 베드에서 일반적으로 사용됩니다. UVB는 파장이 더 짧으며 일광 화상과 피부 손상을 유발합니다. UVB 방사선에 장시간 노출되면 피부암의 위험이 높아질 수 있습니다. UVC는 파장이 가장 짧아 생명체에 가장 위험합니다. 다행히도 대부분의 자외선은 지구 대기에 흡수되어 지표면에 도달하지 않습니다.
자외선은 태양에서 자연적으로 방출되며 인체에 다양한 영향을 미칩니다. 특히 뼈 건강에 중요한 비타민 D 생성에 필수적입니다. 그러나 자외선에 과도하게 노출되면 일광 화상, 조기 노화 및 피부암 위험 증가와 같은 유해한 영향을 미칠 수 있습니다.

조명 산업에서 자외선은 다양한 용도로 사용됩니다. 살균 램프 사용 UVC 조명 박테리아, 바이러스, 곰팡이 같은 미생물을 죽이거나 비활성화합니다. 이러한 램프는 의료 및 연구 시설, 정수 및 공기 정화 시스템에서 일반적으로 사용됩니다. 자외선은 범죄 현장에서 혈액과 같은 생물학적 물질을 식별하고 분석하기 위한 법의학 수사에도 활용됩니다. 일반적인 조명 조건에서는 쉽게 보이지 않는 특정 물질의 가시성을 향상시킬 수 있습니다. 또한 자외선은 식품과 물의 위생 공정에서 유해한 미생물을 제거하고 오염 위험을 줄이기 위해 사용됩니다.
