Het stelt dat de stralingsintensiteit van een ideaal diffuus reflecterend oppervlak recht evenredig is met de cosinus van de hoek tussen de richting van het invallende licht en de oppervlaknormaal. Deze wet, genoemd naar Johann Heinrich Lambert, wordt bestudeerd in de optica en speelt een cruciale rol in het begrijpen hoe licht wordt verdeeld en hoe het de verlichting van een oppervlak be\u00efnvloedt.<\/p><p>De cosinuswet van verlichting wordt gebruikt om de verlichtingssterkte (of bestraling) op een oppervlak te berekenen op basis van de invalshoek. Het biedt een wiskundige relatie die de hoeveelheid licht die op een oppervlak valt, bepaalt door rekening te houden met de hoek waaronder het licht het oppervlak raakt.
