Rayzeek Introduces RZ038 Recessed Ceiling PIR Sensor for Clean, Low-Profile Lighting Control

Rayzeek has introduced the RZ038 recessed ceiling-mounted PIR motion sensor switch, a new option for commercial and interior lighting projects where the sensor should do its job without becoming a visible feature of the ceiling.
Most motion sensor switches are judged first by whether they control the load correctly. That still matters, but in finished interiors the physical result matters too. A sensor installed in a corridor, meeting area, bathroom, utility room, or retail ceiling is part of what the customer sees every day. The RZ038 is built around that practical requirement: keep automatic lighting control in the ceiling, keep the visible face simple, and avoid the heavier look of a surface-mounted sensor head.
A cleaner fit for finished ceilings
The RZ038 uses a recessed spring-clip mounting method with an 82-90 mm circular ceiling cutout. Once installed, the visible face has a 106 mm diameter, giving the ceiling a more integrated appearance than a device that sits fully below the surface.
That detail is important for projects where the lighting control system is expected to disappear into the design. In hallways, commercial interiors, meeting spaces, and storage rooms, the goal is usually not to make the sensor stand out. The goal is to place it where it can detect movement properly, switch lighting automatically, and leave the ceiling line looking orderly.
As with any PIR sensor, placement still needs attention. Installers should avoid locations affected by heat sources, forced air, ventilation systems, ceiling fans, or nearby hanging light fixtures. These are not cosmetic details; they directly affect how a PIR device reads motion and temperature changes in the space.
AC and low-voltage versions for different wiring plans
One reason Rayzeek developed the RZ038 as a small product family is that ceiling lighting projects are not all wired the same way. Some need a direct AC sensor switch. Others are built around constant-voltage LED systems or low-voltage control areas.
For AC installations, the RZ038-5A and RZ038-10A versions support 100-265 VAC and use live, neutral, and load wiring. For low-voltage projects, the RZ038 12V/24V version is made for constant-voltage 12 VDC or 24 VDC lighting systems, with a 10-30 VDC input range.
That gives project teams a more direct choice at specification time. If the room uses standard AC lighting control, choose the AC model that matches the load requirement. If the project is based on 12 VDC or 24 VDC lighting, use the DC version instead of forcing the installation around a mains-voltage device.
Adjustable control without making the product complicated
The RZ038 provides 360-degree PIR detection with an 8-12 m detection diameter under documented conditions. It is intended for indoor ceiling-mounted use in spaces where automatic on/off lighting control can reduce unnecessary manual switching and help lights respond more naturally to occupancy.
Key adjustable settings include:
- Time delay from 15 seconds to 30 minutes
- Lux setting options of Off, 15 Lux, 25 Lux, and 35 Lux
- High or Low sensitivity selection
These settings are straightforward, but they make a real difference on site. A short delay may fit a utility room or storage area where people come and go quickly. A longer delay may be better for corridors, bathrooms, or meeting areas where users do not want the lights switching too aggressively. Lux control helps decide whether the sensor should respond only when the ambient light level is low enough, while sensitivity adjustment gives installers another way to tune the sensor after the room layout is understood.
For Rayzeek, the RZ038 fills a specific gap in the ceiling sensor range. It is a recessed option for customers who care about the final ceiling appearance, need clear AC and DC choices, and want the lighting control hardware to support the project instead of drawing attention to itself.
