Il s'agit d'un concept fondamental pour comprendre le comportement de la lumi\u00e8re et il est crucial dans divers aspects de la conception et de la technologie de l'\u00e9clairage. Dans l'industrie de l'\u00e9clairage, la lumi\u00e8re est souvent d\u00e9crite comme se propageant dans l'espace libre sous la forme d'ondes transversales. Ces ondes sont constitu\u00e9es de photons oscillants et la direction du mouvement de l'onde est perpendiculaire \u00e0 la direction d'oscillation des photons. La longueur d'onde est une caract\u00e9ristique essentielle de ces ondes et est repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par le symbole \u03bb (lambda).<\/p><p>La mesure de la longueur d'onde peut \u00eatre effectu\u00e9e entre deux cr\u00eates ou deux creux successifs de l'onde. Une cr\u00eate d\u00e9signe le point le plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 de l'onde, tandis qu'un creux d\u00e9signe le point le plus bas.
