Les ballasts magn\u00e9tiques, que l'on trouve g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement dans les anciens appareils d'\u00e9clairage fluorescent, sont connus pour le bourdonnement caract\u00e9ristique qu'ils \u00e9mettent lorsque la lumi\u00e8re est allum\u00e9e. Ils sont plus sujets aux probl\u00e8mes et peuvent se d\u00e9t\u00e9riorer avec le temps. Les ballasts \u00e9lectroniques sont plus couramment utilis\u00e9s dans les luminaires plus r\u00e9cents ou ceux qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mis \u00e0 jour. Ces ballasts sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme plus efficaces sur le plan \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et plus silencieux que les ballasts magn\u00e9tiques. Ils sont \u00e9galement moins sujets aux probl\u00e8mes et aux pannes. <\/p><p>Un ballast est un composant essentiel qui assure le bon fonctionnement et la stabilit\u00e9 des lampes \u00e0 d\u00e9charge \u00e9lectrique, telles que les sources lumineuses fluorescentes et HID. Il fournit les conditions de circuit n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 l'allumage et au fonctionnement de la lampe, r\u00e9gule la puissance lumineuse et g\u00e8re la distribution de l'\u00e9nergie dans l'ensemble de l'appareil d'\u00e9clairage. Sans ballast, la lampe ne s'allumera pas et ne fonctionnera pas correctement. Malgr\u00e9 cette diff\u00e9rence, la taille des douilles, la longueur et la distance entre les broches restent les m\u00eames pour les deux types.
