Es un fen\u00f3meno que se produce cuando un objeto, como el filamento de tungsteno de una bombilla incandescente, se calienta a una temperatura elevada, lo que provoca que emita luz visible. Este proceso es habitual en las l\u00e1mparas incandescentes, en las que una corriente el\u00e9ctrica pasa a trav\u00e9s del filamento, calent\u00e1ndolo y haciendo que brille. En el caso de las bombillas incandescentes, el filamento suele ser de tungsteno, que tiene un punto de fusi\u00f3n elevado y puede soportar las altas temperaturas necesarias para la incandescencia. Cuando la corriente el\u00e9ctrica pasa por el filamento, \u00e9ste se calienta y emite luz.<\/p><p>Las bombillas incandescentes no s\u00f3lo producen luz, sino que tambi\u00e9n generan una importante cantidad de calor. De hecho, aproximadamente el 90% de la energ\u00eda consumida por las bombillas incandescentes se convierte en calor, mientras que s\u00f3lo alrededor del 10% se transforma en luz visible.
