Was ist eine Kerze<\/h2>

In der Beleuchtungsindustrie bezeichnet eine Kerze eine Lichtquelle, die haupts\u00e4chlich f\u00fcr dekorative und zeremonielle Zwecke verwendet wird. Sie werden in der Regel aus Materialien wie Wachs oder Talg hergestellt, die langsam brennen. Kerzen haben in der Regel eine zylindrische Form, k\u00f6nnen aber auch in verschiedenen verschlungenen Formen hergestellt werden. Der Kern einer Kerze ist ein faseriger Docht, der von Wachs oder anderen Materialien umschlossen und getr\u00e4nkt wird.<\/p>

Kerzen haben eine lange Geschichte, die bis zu den alten Zivilisationen zur\u00fcckreicht. Arch\u00e4ologische Funde wie Kerzenst\u00e4nder aus \u00c4gypten und Kreta, die auf 3000 v. Chr. zur\u00fcckgehen, belegen ihre fr\u00fche Verwendung. Im europ\u00e4ischen Mittelalter gewannen Talgkerzen aus Tierfett an Beliebtheit. Die Bedeutung der Kerzen in dieser Zeit geht aus einer Pariser Steuerliste aus dem Jahr 1292 hervor, in der 71 Kerzenmacher genannt werden.<\/p>

Fortschritte in der Kerzenherstellung gab es im 19. Jahrhundert. Ein franz\u00f6sischer Chemiker namens Michel-Eug\u00e8ne Chevreul entdeckte die Stearins\u00e4ure, indem er die Fetts\u00e4ure vom Glycerin des Fettes abtrennte. Dieser Durchbruch erm\u00f6glichte die Herstellung hochwertiger Kerzen. Andere Quellen f\u00fcr Kerzenmaterial, darunter Walrat aus der Kopfh\u00f6hle des Pottwals und Paraffinwachs aus Erd\u00f6l, wurden ebenfalls entdeckt. Eine Kombination aus Paraffin und Stearins\u00e4ure wurde zum Grundstoff f\u00fcr Kerzen.<\/p>

Bei der Verwendung einer Kerze verfl\u00fcssigt die Hitze der Flamme das Wachs in der N\u00e4he der Dochtbasis. Durch die Kapillarwirkung flie\u00dft das fl\u00fcssige Wachs nach oben und wird durch die Hitze der Flamme verdampft. Die Flamme selbst ist das Ergebnis der Verbrennung des Wachsdampfes.<\/p>

Der Begriff \"Kerze\" bezieht sich auch auf die Standardkerze oder internationale Kerze, die in der Vergangenheit als Ma\u00dfeinheit f\u00fcr die Intensit\u00e4t von Lichtquellen verwendet wurde. Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde sie als eine ein Sechstel Pfund schwere Kerze aus Spermawachs definiert, die mit einer Geschwindigkeit von 120 K\u00f6rnern pro Stunde brennt.
