Die R\u00f6hre ist an beiden Enden mit Metallkappen verschlossen, die \u00fcber elektrische Anschl\u00fcsse verf\u00fcgen. Wenn ein elektrischer Strom an die R\u00f6hre angelegt wird, werden die Quecksilberatome angeregt und geben ultraviolettes (UV) Licht ab. Dieses UV-Licht trifft dann auf eine Phosphorbeschichtung auf der Innenseite der R\u00f6hre, wodurch diese fluoresziert und sichtbares Licht aussendet. Die Kombination aus UV-Licht und Leuchtstoffbeschichtung erm\u00f6glicht die Erzeugung von wei\u00dfem Licht. <\/p><p>Sie sind bekannt f\u00fcr ihre Energieeffizienz im Vergleich zu Gl\u00fchbirnen und Halogenlampen sowie f\u00fcr ihren niedrigeren Preis im Vergleich zu LEDs. Es gibt verschiedene Arten von Leuchtstofflampen, darunter lineare Leuchtstoffr\u00f6hren, gebogene Leuchtstoffr\u00f6hren, kreisf\u00f6rmige Leuchtstoffr\u00f6hren und CFLs (Kompaktleuchtstofflampen).
