Den m\u00e5les i grader Kelvin (K) og angiver, om lyset fremst\u00e5r varmt (gulligt) eller k\u00f8ligt (bl\u00e5ligt) for det menneskelige \u00f8je. Farvetemperatur er baseret p\u00e5 princippet om sortlegemestr\u00e5ling, hvor temperaturen p\u00e5 et teoretisk \"sortlegeme\" bestemmer farven p\u00e5 det lys, det udsender. Kelvin-skalaen bruges til at kvantificere lysets farveudseende, hvor lavere v\u00e6rdier indikerer varmere farver og h\u00f8jere v\u00e6rdier indikerer k\u00f8ligere farver.<\/p><p>Lyskilder med lavere farvetemperaturer, typisk fra 2200K til 3000K, udsender varmt lys, der fremst\u00e5r mere gult, orange eller r\u00f8dt. Dette varme lys er ofte forbundet med en hyggelig og indbydende atmosf\u00e6re, der ligner gl\u00f8den fra en ild eller den svage belysning i en eksklusiv restaurant. Lyskilder med h\u00f8jere farvetemperaturer, typisk over 4000K, udsender k\u00f8ligt lys, der fremst\u00e5r mere bl\u00e5t.
