Den er designet som et mere milj\u00f8venligt alternativ til traditionelle gl\u00f8dep\u00e6rer. CFL'er er kendt for deres kompakte st\u00f8rrelse, energieffektivitet og lange levetid. CFL'er fungerer ved at sende en elektrisk str\u00f8m gennem et r\u00f8r, der indeholder en lille m\u00e6ngde kviks\u00f8lvdamp og en fosforbel\u00e6gning.
